Newsong Communications

On May 10, Newsong Communications (Donald E. Mabee) was granted a licence for a new low-power Christian music station at Saint John, operating on 96.1 MHz with 50 watts effective radiated power.

Early in the year, CINB "Newsong FM" began broadcasting.

On August 15 the CRTC approved the application by New Song Communications Ministries Ltd. to effect a corporate reorganization that would result in the applicant acquiring the assets of CINB-FM from New Song Communications Ltd. As a result of the transaction, the effective control of the station would be exercised by New Song Communications Ministries Limited's board of directors.

On June 13 the CRTC renewed CINB-FM's licence until August 31, 2013. Conditions of licence included: During each broadcast week, at least 95% of all musical selections broadcast shall be drawn from subcategory 35 (Non-classic religious). During each broadcast week, at least 20% of all category 3 musical selections (Special interest) broadcast shall be Canadian selections. The licensee shall not broadcast commercial messages. During each broadcast week, no more than 5% of all musical selections broadcast shall be hit material.

On July 26, New Song Communications received CRTC approval to convert unprotected 50 watt CINB-FM to a 2,500 watt Community station with a diversified format. EHAAT would be lowered from 57.3 to 29.8 metres. The radiation pattern will be non-directional.
