CJAH-FM, Christian - UCB Canada, Windsor

United Christian Broadcasters Canada

On December 5, the CRTC approved the application by United Christian Broadcasters Canada for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language specialty commercial FM radio programming undertaking in Windsor. The station would operate at 90.5 MHz (channel 213B1) with an average effective radiated power of 1,730 watts (maximum ERP of 10,000 watts with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 55.5 metres). The station would be operated under a specialty, Christian Adult Contemporary music format. Its target audience would be 35 to 55 years of age. The licence would expire August 31, 2021.

The new station would broadcast 126 hours of programming each broadcast week. Of that amount, 92 hours would consist of local programming, and 34 hours would be made available for syndicated spoken word programs (primarily from the U.S.). The  station would broadcast 40 hours and 22 minutes of spoken word programming per broadcast week, of which four hours would be devoted to news, weather forecasts, sports, and community and event notices.

CJAH-FM began testing on October 19 and signed on the air December 2.

In August, CJAH received CRTC approval to decrease power from 10,000 to 7,500 watts.
