On July 2, Canadian Hellenic Cable Radio Ltd. was awarded a licence for a new ethnic FM station in Montréal at 105.1 MHz. Programming would be primarily directed to the Greater Montréal Area’s Greek-speaking community. The station would also provide programming in Armenian, Croatian, Serbian, Russian and Tagalog, as well as in English and French.

CKDG-FM "Route 105" signed on the air in March. Studios and offices were at 5899 Parc Avenue in Montreal.

CKDG-FM adopted a mainstream Classic Hits music format as "MIKE FM" during morning and afternoon drive. Ethnic programming was broadcast in all other times and weekends. It was also the year in which the founder of this broadcast group John Daperis passed away at age 87.

On June 30, the CRTC renewed the broadcasting licence for the commercial ethnic FM radio station CKDG-FM Montréal from 1 July 2010 to 31 August 2013. This short-term licence renewal will enable the Commission to review, at an earlier date, the licensee's compliance with its conditions of licence relating to Canadian talent development contributions. In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2009-786, the Commission stated that the licensee may have failed to comply with its condition of licence regarding contributions to Canadian talent development for the broadcast years 2004 through 2008.

Tasso Patsikakis and Patrick Henry Charles were now hosting the new drive-home show on MIKE FM. Patsikakis had spent the past 25 years at Q92. Charles was the former Creative Writer for the morning show on Q92, former co-host of Virgin's Breakfast Show and a CTV Montreal contributor.

Helene Daperis passed away at age 98. She and her late husband, John, pioneered third-language radio and TV broadcasts, developing multicultural programming in Montreal. They formed Groupe CHCR, owner of MIKE FM 105.1 in Montreal, now operated by their daughter, Marie Griffiths.
