On June 14, Jean-Marc Chouinard was granted a licence for a new FM station
at Quebec City on 89.1 MHz with effective radiated power of 1,400 watts (omnidirectional) and antenna height of 255 feet.
Community station CKRL 89.1 signed on the air on February 15.
On December 21, Campus Laval FM Inc. was authorized to increase CKRL’s effective radiated power from 1,400 watts to 1,430 watts, and to change the antenna site.
On January 11, the CRTC renewed CKRL-FM's licence until September 30, 1985.
CKRL was listed as operating on 89.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 1,400 watts.
The corporate name changed from Campus Laval FM inc. to CKRL-MF 89.1 inc.
On November 3, CKRL-MF 89,1 inc. was authorized to increase effective radiated power from 1,430 watts to 1,495 watts and decrease antenna height from 163.5 metres to 157.5 metres.
