On May 20th the CRTC approved application for a new low power non-commercial TV station in Abbotsford to broadcast religious programming from local studios. Control was to rest with the Board of the B.C. Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Churches, administered by the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church. The applicant stated that 80% of the Church's members are seniors over the age of 65, while 50% are 80 years of age or older and many were not able to attend church services but wanted to watch them on TV. On October 12th the CRTC approved application by Rogers Cablesystems to be relieved from the requirement of having to carry the station on its local cable system. Rogers had cited a lack of analog cable capacity and the fact that the station had not asked for cable carriage.
CFEG-TV channel 19 signed on in July with an effective radiated power of 20 watts from an antenna set up on the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church in Abbotsford. Programming consisted of Church services in both English and German, along with bible studies. All of the station’s operating costs were borne by the Church.
On February 9 the CRTC renewed CFEG-TV's licence until August 31, 2012.
On July 12, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CFEG-TV until August 31, 2013.
